I Tested KylieSkin for 3 Weeks – Here Are My Thoughts

Hi! You might be shocked to see that I am writing yet another post about skincare… Oh well! I am super excited to be talking about the newest skincare products that I’ve been testing out – Kylie Jenner’s new line: KylieSkin.

Because Kylie is one of the most talked about celebrities in the world, people had a lot to say about her starting her own skin line. I’ll admit, I’m a big Kardashian/Jenner fan, so I was super excited to test this out.

As you all know, I have a lot of holy grail skin products, so I didn’t feel the need to buy her entire set. But, believe it or not, I am in the market for a good cleanser, moisturizer & eye cream. So, as you can imagine, I purchased those items from KylieSkin!

The other items in her line that I did not purchase were the Vanilla Milk Toner, Walnut Face Scrub and Vitamin C Serum. As always, everyone’s skin reacts differently to products. These were just my thoughts and results after 3 weeks of use on my combination skin!

Foaming Face Wash, $24

Let’s start off by talking about some of the ingredients in this cleanser. It has kiwi seed oil, which has Vitamin E and C that brightens and hydrates your skin. Love that. It also contains glycerin, which balances the oils and moisture of your skin – making sure you’re not too dry or too oily. The last ingredient I’d like to mention is that this face wash contains fragrance. My skin is not sensitive, so this did not effect my skin. But if you do have sensitive skin, I would refrain from using any products that contain fragrance!

Overall, I enjoy this cleanser! I currently have clear skin, so I’m unable to say whether or not this cleanser is good for acne or not. But I love the way this feels on my skin. The foaminess of it makes cleansing very gentle and leaves my skin feeling smooth afterwards. After toning, my cotton pad is makeup free – so it’s good to see this is actually getting that extra makeup off. I’ll definitely keep using this in my routine if I need a simple cleanse.

Face Moisturizer, $24

Like I mentioned earlier, I have combination skin. Meaning I’m not dry and I’m not overly oily. With that being said, and especially during the heat of the summer, I don’t need a thick and suffocating moisturizer. Which is exactly why I actually love this moisturizer. After using this, my face felt smooth and looked glowy and actually got rid of the dry skin around my nose.

The moisturizer contains shea butter, which you could imagine leaves your skin feeling hydrated. It also has glycerin and hyaluronic acid which plumps your skin. It’s important to also add that this product is fragrance-free, so sensitive skin folks don’t need to worry! I use this as my nighttime moisturizer and my skin feels great in the morning. I recommend testing this out if you’re just starting out with skin, or are in the market for something new.

Eye Cream, $20

Lastly, I need to talk to you about her eye cream – I love it. I’ll start off my saying that I do not suffer from major bags or dark circles under my eyes, but I do look majorly tired in the morning – like everyone else. I use this as my nighttime eye cream, paired with the moisturizer and I definitely see results the next morning. This cream has a yellow/banana tint to it, so it really does brighten and cancel out any darkness under my eyes. It also contains green tea, a little caffeine helps de-puff and get life back into those eyes! It also comes with a super convenient applicator, so you don’t need to stick your fingers into a dirty jar – you can just apply right from the tube.

I’ve only been using this for a few weeks, so I haven’t seen any differences in my crows feet – but I have noticed brightness and less inflammation!

I know I didn’t test out the entire set, but I really did enjoy the 3 products that I have incorporated into my skin routine. Again, if you have sensitive skin, please read the ingredients before using and make sure a product doesn’t contain anything that may irritate your skin. Were these the best products I’ve ever used in my life? No. But did they make my skin feel great and make it worth my money? Yes.

Have you tried any KylieSkin products? What should I try next?

AHA’s: What are they + Why are they necessary in your skin routine?

I am in no way claiming to be a skincare expert or professional, but I do take pride in being pretty educated on SKIN!

After years and years of testing out products and brands, reading up on my favorite beauty bloggers and keeping up with the trends, AHA’s have come up A LOT. Before I knew what they were, it was just some silly little acronym that I was too lazy to look into. But now, my skincare routine would be nothing without them!

Let me start off by explaining what the f AHA’s actually are. It stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acid – I know, sounds a little scary. Although it sounds like a chemical, AHA’s are actually derived from natural occurring ingredients in our environment, like sugarcane, milk & even grapes!

Why are they so great, you may ask? You guys all know how much I love to exfoliate. AHA’s are the ultimate exfoliator. Not saying they are the harshest and roughest – that’s not the case. I mean they do a great job at actually turning skin cells over and rejuvenating your skin. After that exfoliation happens, you reveal your fresh and smooth skin and at the same time, hydrate.

There are many different kinds of AHA’s – like glycolic acid, lactic acid, even citric acid. But, if it is a main ingredient in a skincare product, they will most likely promote that on the packaging.

I want to share with you my favorites & recommendations for great AHA products. Depending on your budget, there are great choices at all price ranges.

Low Price Range: $10 and under

The Ordinary AHA Peeling Solution – $7.20, image via Sephora
elf SuperTone AHA Toner – $8, image via elf cosmetics

I’ve recently been trying out this toner and LOVE the way it’s making my skin look & feel! It has cleared my hormonal acne, made my skin glow & has removed any dead skin. Highly recommend as an inexpensive option.

Mid Price Range – $30 and under

Glossier Exfoliating Skin Perfector – $24
image via Glossier

These peel pads are seriously one of my holy grail products that I’ll never give up. They have transformed my skin and it’s texture. In just two minutes, your skin is left glowy and exfoliated – they’re my favorite on-the-go treatment.

High Price Range – $80 and up

Alright, if you’ve gotten more money to blow – or you’re a luxury products kind of person, this is for you. I’ve tried Sephora samples of these next two products and I recommend you do the same before pulling the trigger – you never know how your skin will react.

Drunk Elephant Baby Facial – $80
image via Sephora

Well, there you have it! I hope you found some great options for your specific price range. As always, if you have super sensitive skin, AHA’s might be too harsh for your skin. Always patch test on your specific skin or ask your dermatologist! Since this is such an exfoliating product, I urge you to always apply sunscreen if you plan on getting any sun exposure after use!

Remember kids – getting dead skin off your face & turning those skin cells over is essential if you’re trying to prevent signs of aging. AHA’s have changed the game for me & I hope they do for you!

Until next time…

My Go-To Beauty Products Available on Amazon

Available with the click of a button.

Summer is coming & this is the time of year that I am always super motivated to take care of myself. Exercise, diet, skin – I love to be on top of it all when the weather starts taking a turn for the better.

With new routines, comes some amazing products that I want to give a shoutout to. Look, everyone’s busy. We don’t have time to run to the store anytime we need something. Believe it or not, some of my favorite beauty products in my routine are available to purchase on Amazon – making my life that much easier.

Without further ado, let’s get into my go-to beauty products available on Amazon…
Ice Roller, ~$10

If you already aren’t on this bandwagon, jump on in! Having a ice roller at my disposal for the past few years has been a game changer in my morning routine. We all wake up a little puffy after a night of drinking, salty foods, etc. Keeping an ice roller like this in the freezer to use while you drink your morning coffee, celery juice or tea is the most refreshing thing you can do to start off your day. It reduces inflammation, especially near my jawline and under eyes. Definitely a tool I’ll never give up!

Facial Steamer, $30-$40

Yes – this looks a little dramatic to be sitting on your bathroom counter, but it’s what we do for beauty, ladies! You know how fresh and dewy your skin feels when you step out of a hot shower? You can achieve that feeling everyday with this easy tool. A facial steamer will easily become the most relaxing component to your routine. The warm steam opens up your pores to allow products, especially serums, to absorb deeper and better into your skin. Pop on a podcast, your favorite album, or just enjoy some peace and quiet & add this extra dimension to your skincare routine.

Facial Spatula, $5

I’ve talked about my love for a good facial spatula before, but I need you all to know there are very inexpensive options available on Amazon! I use my facial spatula to apply masks, moisturizers, scrubs, anything to my face and it applies the product evenly without getting my hands covered in that, sometimes expensive, product! It’s such a simple tool that you may have never thought that you needed, but it makes application and cleanup so easy that I recommend you adding it to your cart during your next Amazon spree.

Silicon Face Mask, $10

Ok trust me, I know what this looks like – terrifying. But if you’re an avid-wearer of sheet masks, this may look like another Tuesday night to you. Why might you need this, you ask? I was struggling applying moisturizers and serums to my face, and 2 minutes later it seemed like they evaporated from my skin. Poof, gone. I then had the idea to research to see if there was anything like this, a mask you could use to allow that product to fully sink in. Apply your favorite moisturizer, serum, cream to your skin & then wear this Silicon Face Mask overtop for as long as you’d like. It keeps your skin moist and makes sure your skin doesn’t dry out or not fully allow the products to sink in. Yes, you may look like a serial killer with this thing on – but it’s the price we pay.

As for actual skincare products on Amazon, I usually steer clear. I’ve ordered moisturizers, lip care, etc. in the past, and sometimes they come from a different seller/supplier – creating the chance that the product isn’t legitimate or safe for your skin. As for tools, eat your heart out! Always check the reviews and take some of my recommendations & really spice up your beauty routine. Of course, none of these are necessary for perfect skin. Use what works for you!

Until next time,

The Best Skincare Packing Checklist For Your Next Trip/Vacation

Spring has sprung & if you’re lucky, you might be jet-setting off on a vacation soon! In my case, I’m headed to California for some work so I need to make sure I don’t forget a thing.

Before anything, I start packing my skincare because it’s the most easily forgettable for me! Whether you’re flying or driving, going to a warm climate or cold, you have to be prepared for how your skin is going to react when you get yourself in a new environment. You could have beautiful & clear skin at home, but it may go a little crazy after traveling. Make sure you’re ready!

I put together a packing checklist that I use when traveling and I thought I’d share just in case you need to get more organized! When flying or driving for hours on end, its important to hydrate and protect your skin! I’ll start with the products I need in my carry-on or car bag and move on to the list of things I bring for daily use on a trip!

Travel Essentials

Alright, so you’re boarding a 5 hour flight or preparing for a 10 hour car ride, what do you need? First off, it’s important to know that it is important to take care of your skin during that time. Being in a confined space with other people and low air quality can attack that skin that you’ve worked so hard to get.

Airplane cabin air truly sucks all the moisture out of your skin. Make sure to pack your favorite moisturizing mask or creme. The most iconic mask for traveling is of course the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask. It’s definitely pricey at $50, but it you travel a lot, it’s a great investment! Once you board your flight, slap this baby on and prevent your skin from drying out so you look glowy on that vacation! Speaking of hydration, I don’t go anywhere without my Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. A true essential for any flight.

Usually when I’m traveling, I get started very early in the morning. With early mornings, comes those not-so-cute eye bags. I always, always, always pack eye masks/gels when traveling to make sure I look fresh upon arrival. You don’t want anyone to know how tired you are, trust me. I love these Activated Charcoal Eye Gels from Blaq! Don’t be afraid to look a little different on a plane, skin is important!

While the first two products are the main things I always pack, I often forget the smaller items. Two more things you need for your next flight or long car ride are sanitizing wipes & a facial spray. Once you get in your seat, be that person and wipe down your seat and tray & whatever else you will be touching during your travels. Touching a dirty seatbelt and then touching your face is skincare suicide – don’t do it! I also always throw in a travel size facial spray to refresh and hydrate throughout the hours. Must have!

VACAY/Trip Essentials

Alright, you’ve made it to your destination and you’re ready to spend a short or long duration there. When packing, I could bring an entire checked bag of all the products I feel like I would need. But in reality, a few good essentials will get you through. Here are the products I always need on my trips, no matter where I’m going:

When I’m traveling to a hot or cold climate, I always find the need to hydrate. Sunburn or below zero temperatures can desperately dry out your skin. My favorite go-to creme is my First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. I know I’ve talked about it so much, but it’s my most universal product for any climate I find myself in.

Peach and Lily

There’s nothing better than a little “me-time” in your hotel room or Airbnb after a long day. That’s why I always pack sheet masks to indulge a little on a trip. I work in film which means I usually work 16 hour days of chaos. Having a hydrating or plumping sheet mask to throw on and relax at night gives my skin back some life after a crazy day. When packing for your next trip, throw in some masks for a little treat every once in a while.

This one is obvious, but make sure to pack your essential cleanser, moisturizing & exfoliator. Whatever your faves are, don’t switch it up. Keep your skincare routine as regular as possible so your skin doesn’t freak out! When you’re going through your routine the night or morning before travel, throw the products in your bag after use! It makes it way easier to not forget something that your skin is used to!

Last, but certainly not least: sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! If you’re not technically heading to the beach, sunscreen is something that I always forget about. In cold or hot climates, the sun can always damage your skin. Bouncing off the snow or beating down from the sky, those UV rays are after you. Find a sunscreen that works for you and layers well with your other skincare and makeup. I love the Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen. It has 40 SPF and works well with my skin type!

There you have it, my travel essentials for all my trips and vacations! The next time you’re heading out on a flight or a road trip, take some of my suggestions into consideration. When I’m packing for my upcoming work trip, I’ll be referencing my list because I still always forget! Happy travels!

The Skincare Organizer You Need In Your Life

With the copious amount of skincare that you guys know I have, it would be a disaster if I didn’t properly organize all of it. Today, I’m sharing the product that truly made me feel less overwhelmed when it came to my skincare.

I have a one-sink bathroom with minimal counter space. You can imagine that that conflicts with being able to display all of my products and have them easily accessible. I was cramming cremes and cleansers into a tiny space which looked awful & simultaneously stressed me out to have to look at.

Anyway, let’s get to the point: I got a rotating, customizable beauty organizer off of Amazon and my life, and counter, was forever changed. It’s called the sanipoe 360 Rotating Makeup Organizer & I’m obsessed! The shelving on it is customizable so you can move them up and down to different heights for different sized products.

I now can display over 30 products in a 12 inch space!

As for the actual organization of my products goes, I like to group together similar products. Up top houses my moisturizers and larger tubs of product, since the shelving works best for smaller items. My cleansers go together, as well as my eye products, oils, etc. It sounds self-explanatory, but I know exactly where to spin when looking for a certain product at each step of my routine.

There are many great organizers out there, find the one that works best for you! I recommend using one with adjustable shelving like mine, so you can ensure that you’ll be able to accommodate for future products you plan to add to your collection!

I know this one was short but sweet, but I wanted to share a simple product that truly helped me declutter my life. If anyone has watched Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, you’ll appreciate that a simple fix can change an entire room! If you have a cluttered countertop full of makeup, haircare and skincare, I highly recommend finding an organizer that works for your space!

Honest Review: Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cloud Cream Cleanser

Time to tell the people what they want to know: all hype aside – how is the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cloud Cream Cleanser?

Apart from being a mouthful to say, I’m here to give an honest review after testing this cleanser for about a month now. First of all, I’d like to preface this review by admitting that I am a big fan of this brand. I use all of their face masks and was introduced to this product by first falling in love with the Water Drench Cloud Cream. So when I saw that they made a cleanser under the same name, I had to give it a shot.

Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cloud Cream Cleanser, $28

When trying out a product for the first time, I like to use it exactly the way it’s directed in the directions on the packaging. That way, I can avoid basing an opinion on it without using it correctly – duh. It directs you to squeeze a small amount into your hand, add water & rub hands together. This actually isn’t the way I usually use my cleansers, so I’m glad I checked the directions prior. My first initial opinion was that I loved the consistency of this cleanser. It truly felt like marshmallow fluff in my hands.

The next reaction I had was one of the negative things I have to say about this product – the smell. I think it’s safe to say that we all like our cleansers to not be fragrant necessarily, but to have a pleasing smell. Since this product has marshmallow root extract in it, I was expecting a sweet & subtle smell. This cleanser had more of a medicinal smell. Since Peter Thomas Roth is a “clinical skin care” brand, this might be expected, but I have not experienced this smell with any of their other products before. Not a huge deal breaker for me, since the smell wasn’t horrible, but still noted.

With that being said, this product works. It directs you to focus on the parts of your skin which have makeup and it claims to melt that makeup away. After using it for a month, I can say that this cleanser makes your makeup disappear! With past cleansers, I always go back over my skin with a cotton pad & some micellar water to make sure I get all the makeup off, and the pad usually comes back dirty. With this product, I am always shocked to swipe my face post-wash and get a clean cotton pad back. This cleanser breaks down high quality mascaras, foundations and eye shadows. I am still always impressed every time I use it.

Cleanser removed my mascara, BB Cream, concealer & powder.

Since a cleansers job is to obviously clean the face, I confidently can say that my skin feels the cleanest after using this product. I believe it’s used best in the morning before applying makeup. It makes your face the perfect smooth & clean canvas which makes for the best makeup & skin all day. It claims to “froth” up, which I wouldn’t necessarily say is the case, but it does act as a great creamy & milky cleanser.

To sum it all up, I will continue to use this product when I’m in the need to get a deep cleanse & makeup removal. I would say that the scent of the product is more medicinal than pleasing, so if that is a deal breaker to you, there are so many other amazing cleansers out there. If not, pick up a travel size of this at Ulta or Sephora and give it a shot before committing!

Happy cleansing!

Beauty Products That Will Save Your Skin From This Cold Weather

Alright, I’m over it. I need sunshine & warmth and I need it now.

This year, more than ever, the cold weather and wind have been really affecting my skin. It’s been dry & dull and lacking the “bounce” we all strive to have in our skin. Luckily, there are some pretty amazing products out there that have helped me get through this difficult time. (Dramatic, but whatever)

If you’ve been experiencing this year’s polar vortex, listen up. If you’re lucky enough to have been soaking up the sun this winter, check out these products for your next ski trip or adventure in the mountains. Enough with the chatter, let’s get to it!

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, $32

Let’s just get the obvious one out of the way! This moisturizing cream has worked miracles for my skin. It hydrates your skin immediately whether you’re dealing with dryness or a bad sunburn (can’t relate). First Aid Beauty being the name of the company makes sense because it truly comes to the rescue. This stuff has been my holy grail winter item this entire season.

Savannah Bee Beeswax Salve, $10

With cold weather, you get dry and cracked hands & heels. It’s not cute. With that being said, this Beeswax Salve is a dream. This company uses all natural ingredients & this product is comprised of a blend of pure beeswax, vitamin E, and olive oil. I like to apply this salve to my heels at night and slap on my favorite fuzzy socks and I wake up with totally different feet. It feels amazing, smells amazing & it truly works.

e.l.f Hydrating Face Primer, $6

It’s super important to properly prep the skin before you apply your makeup for the day. Having the right primer helps the makeup go on smoother & in this case, your skin will stay hydrated. e.l.f is known for their primers and with how affordable they are, I always recommend people try them out! This one has been my favorite primer this cold season because it hydrates any dry patches and creates a silky canvas for my makeup to lay upon. Love.

Grown Alchemist Hydra-Restore Cream Cleanser, $49

If your skin is already dry and red, the last thing you need is to use a harsh and chemically product to cleanse your face. I’ve been reaching for this cream cleanser that is packed full of natural ingredients. When looking at your cleansers, look at the first few ingredients. If you don’t recognize the ingredient, or it’s alcohol, steer clear. The first ingredients in this products are Aloe and seed oils. Those are extremely hydrating and soothing & will do the trick if your skin is acting up this winter.

Patchology Get Dewy With It Hydrating Mask, $5

Whenever my skin is acting up, I just slap a sheet mask on my face. However, there are so many different masks that serve so many different purposes. Luckily for us, brands slap “hydrating” and “nourishing” right on the front of the product so we don’t have to do the digging. I love this Get Dewy With It mask from Patchology. If you’re an avid sheetmasker, you know there are good masks and there are bad masks. This one actually stays on your face, I can move around and do other tasks while wearing; which is a deal breaker for me. Also, I notice a difference immediately after use; my skin looks glowy and hydrated – it does it’s job!

philosophy Snowman Glazed Body Souffle, $22 – out of stock

Along with exfoliating your skin & drinking plenty of water, moisturizing your skin is major. The days when I jump out of the shower and skip cream, my body pays for it for the next day or 2. Obviously there are plenty of amazing creams, body butters, souffles out there! This one from philosophy has been my saving grace. It’s thick and hydrating and doesn’t leave a sticky film on the skin. This scent also has to be one of my favorites ever! It truly smells like you’re in a spa using high end products. Since this one seems to be a seasonal product, check out their other scents – they all rock.

I’d like to personally thank each and every one of these products for getting me through this rough Indiana winter. Obviously, I also need my Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask as well, but I already told you guys that in my February Favorites post! What are your favorite hydrating products that you need in your bag?

A Morning Beauty Routine Focused On Self-Care

I want to start off by prefacing this post with an admission. No matter what I say down below, I am still not a morning person. But, when I am able to pry my tired eyes open, I like to use my time wisely – on myself!

Whether you’re a busy mom, a working woman with absolutely no spare time or a tired college student, it is so important to take time for yourself! It’s not selfish, it’s imperative. I work in a nonconventional career, so I often have days off to be able to pamper myself a little bit. But, you can create your own routine based around your schedule. Here’s mine…

To be completely real, the first thing I do every single morning is check social media, emails & texts that came in overnight – for way longer than I should.. Then, I actually get my day started. As you’ve seen in my January Favorites post, I’m on a celery juice kick. It works most effectively when you drink it on an empty stomach, so before I do anything else, I go downstairs and get that celery juiced!

While I’m drinking that delicious (not!) juice, I grab my Ice Roller from the freezer and get to work on my face. Just like most people, I wake up with a very puffy face – not cute. I use an ice roller every morning to reduce inflammation in my cheeks and under eyes. For how cheap these are on Amazon, pick one up and add it into your routine! I couldn’t live without mine.

After making myself a healthy breakfast & a huge glass of water, it’s time to get into the good stuff. You guys know how much I love skincare products, so getting to actually use them is my favorite part of the day.

I start off by cleansing my skin & washing off all the oils that accumulated overnight. Based on how my skin is looking, and feeling, that morning I choose between two of my cleansers. If my skin is looking clear and just needs a pick-me-up, I reach for my Glossier Milky Jelly cleanser. It leaves my skin feeling conditioned and refreshed. But if I woke up with some problem areas, like acne, I go with my Mario Badescu Acne Facial cleanser. Listen to your skin every morning, some days it needs more help than others.

Before moving into any heavier products, it’s important to tone the skin! I used to not think this was an important step, but now it’s an essential step in my routine. If your skin ever feels “tight” after cleansing, it needs to be toned, or balanced! That’s where my Cucumber Cleansing Lotion (aka toner) from Mario Badescu, on a cotton round, comes into play. It’s designed for combo/oily skin so it reduces shine while also nourishing my skin. Yay!

If you’re going to use some type of serum, now is the time to apply it – before the moisturizer. The closer to your skin, the better; it won’t do much work if it’s blocked by a thick cream. Recently, I’ve been putting a lot of importance into my eyes. I have two different serums that I like to rotate between. When it’s an extremely early morning and my eyes are struggling to stay open, I use a roller ball eye serum – Morning Perk from Me Time Botanicals. This 100% natural product contains coffee and nourishing oils to wake those eyes up. If I want to focus more on the fine lines around my eyes, (yes, I’m 23 & they’re already there) I use an eye serum that contains Vitamin C & hyaluronic acid. I’ve been loving the Line Eraser Vitamin C eye serum from The Beauty Foundry. Hyaluronic acid helps hydrate the skin and reduce fine lines. Yes, please!

Finally, it’s time to moisturize. During the day, I like to use a lighter moisturizer so that my skin is a smoother (& less oily) slate for makeup. I’ve been loving the Drench & Quench daytime moisturizer from Bliss. It has a cream-to-water consistency and instantly melts into the skin which I love because it doesn’t leave my skin greasy. The last step to your skin routine every morning should be sunscreen. If you plan on leaving the house that day and your foundation doesn’t have SPF, slap some on there! Find the sunscreen that works best for your skin & lifestyle.

As lengthy as my morning skin routine seems, it’s really doable in minutes. If you find products that you love, you’ll be excited to use them every morning! I used to not put much effort in my mornings because I thought I could never find the time, but washing your face and slapping on a few products really won’t set you back much! Make yourself a bigger priority and you will thank yourself!

After my skin is done, it’s time to get to work or get a quick workout in & then my morning is gone! Everyone has a different morning routine, what’s yours?

Exfoliating Skincare Products My Face Couldn’t Live Without

Scrub away all of your problems.

This cold weather is personally attacking my skin. As someone who’s never had dry skin in their life, the time has come. Whether you’re in the same boat, your skin is acting up from wearing makeup everyday or your skin just needs a pick me up, you need to make sure you’re exfoliating. Scrubbing off your dead skin and thoroughly cleaning out your pores is a must if you’re interested in smooth and clear skin.

When I was shopping for my first good exfoliator, I didn’t know where to start. There are so many products out there, but how are you supposed to know which ones actually work? I’m here to help you out! Here are my must have exfoliating products you need in your skincare collection…

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate, $75

Ok, I know what you’re thinking. $75 for a product is pricey. Trust me, I’m all about a bargain. But sometimes, investing in a good product pays off tenfold. Kate Somerville is one of my favorite skincare brands and they are definitely known for this product, ExfoliKate. I’m not kidding when I say that you see results right after you use this stuff. It’s a strong exfoliator, so I only use it once a week, but it instantly leaves my skin smooth and glowing. Must have.

O.R.G Skincare Mineral Peel Face, $35

This stuff is like magic in a spray bottle. The first time I used their Mineral Peel Face, the dead skin on my face was instantly sloughing off. Since it is enzyme-based, it doesn’t feel rough on the skin like you’re rubbing sandpaper on your face. When spraying it on the skin, it feels like a serum. But once you start rubbing in circular motions, goodbye dead skin! Being on the more affordable side, pick this one up and give it a try!

Lush Cosmetics Mint Julips, $10.95

Our lips need some love, too. Especially during this winter weather, my lips have struggled. There is nothing I hate more than crusty lips so I have been reaching for this lip scrub from Lush very often. I used to be afraid of putting a product so close to my mouth, but this scrub is literally made out of castor sugar and peppermint! So, it tastes delicious and never like a chemical product. If I ever have dry skin on my lips, this stuff buffs it right off. Obsessed.

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Peel Pads, $17

Drumroll please! It’s now time to talk about my favorite skincare product I use. I have been using Dr. Dennis Gross peel pads for a while now and my skin has been thanking me ever since. Each treatment comes with two steps: the Exfoliate & Smooth pad and then the Anti-Aging Neutralizer pad. Using these every week leaves my skin feeling radiant, smooth and has reduced the fine lines around my eyes.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator, $79

Last, but definitely not the least amount of money, Dr. Brandt. If you really want your skin to feel actually polished, this product will do that for you. It is a harsh exfoliator, so be prepared for the grittiness. I wouldn’t recommend this product if you have super sensitive skin, try one of the products above! But if your skin can handle it, use this in the shower when your pores are open and ready to be scrubbed!

Alright ladies! You’re ready to get on the road to smooth skin. Even though these are all of my favorite exfoliators, I use them wisely. I definitely do not use all of these products all the time, my skin would hate me! Since these products do work to scrub away skin, you need to make sure you’re not doing it too much. I use them on an as need basis, when my skin needs some help. Also, please use sunscreen after exfoliating! Your skin will be sensitive and vulnerable that day!

Discounted High-End Beauty Products Waiting For You At TJ Maxx

Beauty on a budget.

We all would love to try all of the expensive and luxurious beauty products on the market, but that pesky wallet usually gets in the way. Every time that I’m browsing the aisles of Sephora and Ulta, I could easily drop hundreds of dollars in a matter of minutes. Not all of us have an exorbitant (big word of the day) beauty budget, so I’m convinced that’s why they created the heaven that is TJ Maxx.

I’m sure you know that TJ Maxx is known for their discounted candles, kitchenware & purses, but their beauty selection is insane. Nowadays, if I’m dying to try a new product that’s in a higher price range, I always check to see if my local TJ Maxx has it in stock. More often than not, I find amazing and high-end products for nearly half the price. On my most recent trip, I found some killer finds that should have you running there now…

Clinique All About Eyes Serum $65, $39.99

Yes, I found a Clinique product for $25 off! If you’ve ever tried this brand, you know that it’s definitely worth the money. But if you can save a ton of money, double win. Also, eye products run major prices nowadays & I’ve been looking for a good deal. Who knew it was waiting for me at a TJ Maxx? Very excited about this one.

Vital Proteins Beauty Collagen $33, $19.99

Ladies, let’s talk. No matter what age you are, it’s time to start incorporating collagen into your life. It’s good for your joints and amazing for your skin. One of my favorite brands for collagen products is hands down Vital Proteins. I love pretty much everything they do, so when I saw Beauty Collagen (to make my favorite minty collagen water) for a major discount, I threw it in the cart. Shopping is way more fun at a bargain.

Kate Somerville Wrinkle Warrior $56, $19.99

Kate. Somerville. I am a huge fan of this brand and I’ve been dying to try this pink plumping mask so in the cart it went. Just like this instance, I love going to TJ Maxx and finding these higher priced products at a discount. So, I can test a bunch of products, instead of just splurging on one! Getting $30 off means you can spend that on more items, yay!

Drybar Double Standard $8, $4.99 & Drybar Detox $23, $9.99

If you’ve never tried a Drybar product for your hair, now is the time. I will rant and rave over their dry shampoo, but spending $23 on one always hurts a little. Seeing this brand at a discount is a surefire way to make a sale with me. TJ Maxx has a crazy variety of hair products that they sell, but this was one of the trendier items that I just couldn’t pass up.

Origins Three Part Harmony Eye Duo $70, $34.99

Origins for 50%? Alright, I’m calling the police. Origins has always been a brand that I’ve loved since I was little because it’s one of my mom’s go-to’s. But since it’s not drugstore price, it’s not something I usually reach for. The fact that TJ Maxx had it for 1/2 off blew my mind! Either they don’t understand the value of what they’re pricing or they’re miracle workers. You can decide.

First Aid Beauty Anti-Redness Serum $36, $12.99

I don’t know what the weather has been like in your neck of the woods, but the polar vortex that just came through last week caused some very unwanted redness in my skin. First Aid Beauty always comes in clutch whenever my skin goes through crazy dry stages, especially due to weather. They had a ton of products at my TJ Maxx but this one seemed most relevant in my life at the moment!

Makeup, makeup, makeup.

Although I didn’t dive into the makeup realm in this post, TJ Maxx has some amazing cosmetics brands and products. I always see Anastasia Beverly Hills, Stila, Buxom and Becca in Sephora, but I can buy it discounted? Count me in. No, TJ Maxx isn’t going to have the brand new line and collection. BUT, if you’re someone who is interested in a brand, being able to test and dive into their products at a discount is always a good idea.

So, you get the gist: TJ Maxx is the sh*t! Of course, not every single store will have the same exact products. But, knowing that they carry exciting and high-end beauty products for major discounts has me hooked. Next time you’re in a TJ Maxx, give the beauty section a glance. I love seeing what great brands I can find & how cheap I can get them for. What is your favorite TJ Maxx find of all time?
